The Department of Ophthalmology at SMF is a comprehensive service geared to meet the community's eye care needs by providing high quality eye care at an affordable cost. The eye department treats patients with general eye problems or those desiring a specific evaluation for cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy or macular degeneration. The day care in-patient wards provide support for the short stay eye surgeries performed for cataract, glaucoma, lacrimal sac etc.

Refraction for glasses with dilated fundus exam

  • Evaluation of visual acuity
  • Slit lamp biomicroscopy
  • Ophthalmoloscopy - direct and indirect

Contact lenses and low vision services

Cataract removal and lens implantation, including "no-stitch" cataract surgery with foldable lens or multifocal foldable lens
